Bowdoin's men's soccer team received an at-large bid for the NCAA Division III tournament and will join automatic qualifier St. Joseph's in the 59-team field.
Bowdoin (11-4-1), one of four schools from the New England Small College Athletic Conference to make the tournament, will travel to Plattsburgh State (13-2-5) for a first-round match at 6 p.m. Thursday.
St. Joseph's (14-7-1), which qualified for its first NCAA tournament by winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship, will face Wesleyan (11-1-4) on Saturday at Middletown, Conn.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
ST. JOSEPH'S: Shannon Fitzgerald, a sophomore back, was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference defensive player of the year and also was selected to the all-league first team, along with teammate Mikayla Call, a junior midfielder.
Call, who had five goals and eight assists this year, made the first team for the third straight year.
Senior midfielder Brianna Jordan was a second-team selection, and forwards Jessica Needham and Anna Willis were named to the third team.
