Legislative leaders from Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire will meet with FairPoint Communications executives, regulators and others Thursday to discuss the telecommunications company's future.

FairPoint filed for bankruptcy protection from its creditors last month. Lawmakers hope to learn more about the implications of the bankruptcy filing for the states' telephone and broadband networks.

Lawmakers also are exploring whether legislative action by the three states is needed to ensure that FairPoint is reliable and will keep its promises to expand broadband services.

The meeting is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Legislative Office Building in Concord, N.H.
