I was sitting in my living room on Halloween evening watching both the local and national news, and heard that gas prices were up again, as if I hadn't noticed. They were also at a high for the year.
Well, I was infuriated and said to myself that if nobody else is going to do something about it, I will try.
So I set out to try and come up with a way to do something and a forum in which to do it. My final idea was the Internet and more specifically, Facebook.com, due to their great networking and their incredibly huge member base. However, I wanted this to be just the start.
You see, in my way of thinking, it's time to let the oil companies know that we are not afraid of them. And to let them know we can and will unite to set the fuel prices where we, as a people, want them, and not where they want them.
Most people don't realize that we, not the oil companies, control the gas prices. Now I know this may be a stretch, but if we can go one calendar week without using a gas pump for anything, we can really make huge progress in bringing down gas prices.
Come on, America, we can do this. Now oil companies stick high gas prices on us right at the holidays, so here is what I am hoping.
If we all do this the week of Dec. 13-19, the demand for petroleum products will go way down, and the supply will go way up. In turn, taking a big chunk out of those high gas prices.
I do realize it will be difficult, but we can do it! Now this event is a month and a half away, so we will have to remember to note it and remind everyone. Let's fight the oil companies together, America!
