Recently, I have had a number of conversations with mothers who are concerned about the paper's new practice of featuring a "weather kid" on the front page of every issue. While we understand that you are trying to promote community, we feel that by including the full names, ages and towns of these children, you are placing them at risk.
This past week, you posted a picture of a 2-year-old girl. A predator could easily file away this information and wait for an opportunity to lure this child simply by calling out their name.
In today's paper, there is an article about a sex offender who for some reason is not on the registry. In these times where people are much more aware of the need to protect children, a major defense tactic is to protect their privacy. We believe you should stop your practice of listing the names and ages of any young children on the front page of the paper.
