Cheverus AD Hoyt named recipient of national honor

Cheverus Athletic Director Gary Hoyt will be one of eight athletic administrators in the nation honored next month by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

Hoyt will receive an NFHS Citation, given annually to outstanding athletic directors in recognition of their contributions to interscholastic athletics at the local, state and national levels. State associations nominate candidates, who are approved by the NFHS board of directors.

Hoyt has been athletic director at Cheverus for 28 years and has overseen the expansion of the athletic program from 13 teams to 27 teams in a span of 20 years, during which time Cheverus went from an all-male school to coeducational.

Hoyt will receive the award in December at the National Athletic Directors Conference in Dallas.
