YARMOUTH — Safe Passage will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a concert featuring Catie Curtis at 7 p.m. Sunday at Yarmouth High School's Performing Arts Center, 286 West Elm St.
Safe Passage is a nonprofit organization that strives to empower children of families working in the Guatemala City garbage dump through education. Over the past 10 years, it has provided education and social support to more than 500 children and their 300 families.
The organization was founded in 1999 by Hanley Denning, a Bowdoin College graduate who was killed two years ago when the car she was riding in was struck by a bus in Guatemala.
A pre-concert reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with appearances by Curtis and Lori Voornas, who will emcee the event. There will be hors d'oeuvres, a raffle and photos from the 3rd Annual Safe Passage Photo Contest.
Tickets cost $35 for a reserved seat in the first seven rows, $20 for adults and $10 for students.
