SANFORD
A few dozen Sanford Junior High School students recently participated in a two-mile, Purple Pinky Walk-a-thon to raise awareness for World Polio Day. Members of the school's EarlyAct and Interact clubs were joined by Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club president Patti Gulnac and Rotarian and youth adviser Elias Thomas. Rotary International has worked for 25 years to eradicate polio, partnering with the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the United Nations and some 200 countries.
