PORTLAND — Jon Still tied a club record with his 36th double of the season. Jarod Plummer struck out five in three innings. Daniel Nava's two-run homer cleared the Maine Monster, convincingly.

But those were isolated bright spots for the Portland Sea Dogs, who were swept by the Harrisburg Senators in a doubleheader Saturday at Hadlock Field.

The Senators won the opener 5-4 on Jemel Spearman's RBI double in the top of the seventh, driving in Leonard Davis.

Then, with the fog rolling in during the second game, Brad Meyers pitched a four-hitter for Harrisburg in a 3-1 win.

The Sea Dogs were held to 10 hits in the doubleheader.

"(Meyers) filled up the zone," said Still, who was 1 for 4 with two RBI in the first game but went hitless in the second. "I didn't think his stuff was overpowering, but he was able to hit his spots and get us out. He did a good job with what he had and a complete game, you don't see one of those often, but he did well."

Portland (59-65) has lost 8 of 11 and is 4 1/2 games behind second-place New Britain in the Eastern League's Northern Division. Only the top two teams make the playoffs, and the Sea Dogs have 17 games remaining.

"We've still got plenty of games left, and we've got a chance," Sea Dogs Manager Arnie Beyeler said. "You've just got to keep playing. If things roll our way, then we'll get a chance."

The Sea Dogs took a 2-0 lead in the opener on Still's two-run double in the first. It was his 36th double of the season, tying a franchise record set by Brandon Moss in 2006.

Harrisburg tied it in the top of the second on Ricardo Nanita's two-run double to right-center.

Plummer started the first game but left with stiffness in his left side after walking Bill Rhinehart to open the fourth inning. Beyeler said Plummer will be examined today.

In the top of the fifth, Francisco Plasencia tripled and scored on Joel Guzman's single.

Nava's two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth gave Portland a 4-3 lead. But the Senators tied the game in the sixth on Plasencia's RBI single, then won it on Spearman's double in the seventh.

In the second game, Harrisburg took a 2-0 lead in the second on Rhinehart's two-run homer. The Sea Dogs got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Jason Place singled home Ryan Khoury.

The Senators added their third run in the top of the fifth when Michael Daniel singled home Matt Whitney with two outs.

"They had a lot of two-out hits, had a lot of runners on base, and they drove them in," Still said. "That's something we didn't do, and they did a good job of timely hitting."
