My name is Meredith and I am 10 years old. I like to escape from New Jersey!  I love to visit my grandparents and cousins in Maine. I've been coming to Maine since I was a baby. I like the misty ferry boat rides to Peaks Island because when I look out at the ocean I can watch the seals jump and play.

I had one very exciting adventure on Peaks Island. Johnny and Liam were leading Siobhan and me through the woods to a bridge that looked like a mini version of the golden gate bridge, but it was made of logs. We started walking to the bridge, five minutes later, we looked behind us and my cousins were gone! We searched the woods trying to find them. Then we realized we were lost! We sat in the middle of the woods for a while and then we gathered some sticks and made a teepee. We sat there planning our next move. We decided to keep walking. John wanted to go forward, but I disagreed and said that we should go backward. Guess what? I was actually right! We were back on the trail and home in a jiffy. Caitlin, Elena and Lily were sitting on the porch waiting for us!

I've been to many exciting events in Maine such as Sea Dog games, basketball camps, making candy canes, and picnics on Willard Beach. Oh! I almost forgot! I’ve also been to lots of lighthouses. My favorite lighthouse is Portland Headlight!

Portland has inspired me so much! One day my cousin, Siobhan, and I will open a bakery on Peaks Island. I will spend every summer in Maine!
