About 150 residents at the town meeting Saturday voted to raise $200,000 to build an addition to the fire department on Route 218.

Last year, residents rejected a proposal to build a new fire station, said Billie Willard, chairman of the Board of Selectmen. Residents approved this plan for an addition by an overwhelming majority.

"There were hands going up everywhere," Willard said. "They needed the space. I am glad to see the fire department get their addition. Now, state regulations will be up to date at the fire department."

Residents approved an estimated $441,403 municipal budget. They voted to raise $198,295 for snow plowing and sand, andapproved a proposal to apply $80,000 from excise taxes to reduce tax burden.

In elections Friday, Tom Smith was elected to the Board of Selectmen with 144 votes. Donna Wallace received 36 and Troy Giroux got 24. David Seigars was also elected to the board over incumbent Brian Lawrence. Seigars got 112 votes and Lawrence got 91.

Michael Trask was re-elected as road commissioner.
