The $311,744 municipal budget citizens approved Saturday was nearly $5,000 less than selectmen and the Budget Committee recommended.

Voters also approved a revised junk yard ordinance and an updated shoreland zoning ordinance, according to Town Clerk Kathy Walston. Requests for town maintenance costs also were approved.

"Several of the requests for agencies were cut quite a lot," Walston said. "We had requests that totaled $4,235, and we approved $2,500."

Voters authorized selectmen to take $118,500 from 2008 excise taxes to lower the total appropriations. Estimated state revenue, which included $61,985 from state municipal revenue sharing and $2,200 in Tree Growth Reimbursement, will be appropriated for the town budget.

On Friday, voters elected David Hart as sexton and Brett Salisbury as selectman.

"Adam Roth was a write-in candidate for the Parks and Recreation director," Walston said. "I called him, and he said he would be willing to take the position."
