1. Deering
Has just about everything a championship team needs -- experience, depth and talent, plenty of talent. Can go inside or outside on offense and the Rams play hellacious defense.

2. South Portland
Great mix of talents and experience. Core of the team has been together for three seasons, so the Riots are ready to take the next step to a championship.

3. Morse
Everyone knows about Jill Henrikson, but the Shipbuilders have a solid cast of players who know how to win. If inside game develops, this is going to be a tough team to beat.

4. Fryeburg Academy
Coreen Hennessy can run past anyone, and usually does. It`s her defense, and that of Cerise Humphrey, that sparks the offense. Good offensive balance. And they have a home court!

5. McAuley
May not have the name talent they`ve had in the past, but the Lions have a lot of players who know how to win. Start with the guards, Shannon Wood and Sarah Oliver.

6. Greely
Rangers have an unheralded star in Megan McDevitt and a lot of size inside. The players know their roles and they play as hard as anyone. They`ll run a dozen players at you.

7. Falmouth
Morgan Furman and Paige Wyman may be the best 1-2 punch in the WMC. Lots of experience returns and the Yachtsmen want a better ending than last year`s regional title game loss.

8. Lake Region
Lakers are the team to beat until someone beats them. Defense, as always, will be suffocating, leading to easy points. Rising stars in Christina Ricci, Abby Hancock and Morgan McClean.

9. Noble
The darkhorse pick in Western Class A. Knights have a talent in 6-1 center Sloane Sorrell and a team that goes to the boards relentlessly. Good depth and experience will carry them.

10. Scarborough
Red Storm possess great young talent, led by sophomores Christy Manning and Jenn Colpitts. The upperclassmen are pretty good too.
