Alyssa Stokes hit a layup as time expired to give the Knights the win. The play was designed to go to Sloane Sorrell, but as time ran down and panic set in Alyssa Stokes cut to the basket for the score.
Sorrell scored 26 points to lead Noble and played the second half while in visible pain. Noble came back despite trailing 22-8 at halftime. Sorrell scored the Knights first 10 points, but in the third quarter the rest of the team came alive.
Brianna Hawkins led South Portland with 19 points, most around the low block, and Jess Aceto scored 10 for the Red Riots, including eight in the second quarter.
Noble will play Deering tomorrow for the Western A Championship.

Rebecca Creveling hit a 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded to cut the lead to two. Sloane Sorrell scored 10 points in the quarter, despite a leg injury.
Noble finally found some offense without her on the floor, anding on a 6-2 run.
Brianna Hawkins scored four points for South Portland.

Diana Manduca scored 12 points and Claire Ramonas added nine as the Rams (18-2) beat the Blue Blazes (14-6) in a Western A semifinal.
The game was tied 13-13 at halftime, but the relentless double-teaming of ballhandlers by Deering evenutually wore down Westbrook, which scored just one point in the third quarter.
Cynthia Wescott led the Blue Blazes with 11 points.

Diana Manduca nailed a tough leaner at the buzzer to tie the game up for the Rams. Both teams endured long scoring droughts to start the quarter, but Deering failed to score for over six minutes between the first and second. Manduca and Claire Ramonas each have four points to lead Deering.
Cynthia Wescott has nine points to lead Westbrook. The Blue Blazes have struggled against the Rams' traps, which have been both full and half court.

Diana Manduca scored eight points during the fourth quarter, including six of seven from the line, and Porscha Lewis added six as Deering raced away from Massabesic.
Lewis finished with 17 for the Rams, while Leach and Benton scored 11 each for the Mustangs.
Jess Ruhlin's runner at the buzzer reinstated Deering's double-digit lead.
Deering starts the second half with possession, with Ramonas scoring once from the free-throw line.
Ramonas scored six points with strong inside play as Deering outscored Massabesic 18-12 in the second period.
Ramonas has 10 points thus far in the game. Boisse has eight for Massabesic.
Burchill and Ramonas each have four points for Deering.

Wescott finished with 14 points, and Murphy 10, as the Blue Blazes advanced with a victory over Scarborough.
Westbrook led 33-18 with 4:30 left in the game. However, Brackett and Bonefant each had a 3-pointer and a 2-pointer during a defense-powered 12-2 Scarborough run which cut the lead to 35-30.
Wight and Shutts each made two free throws down the stretch to widen the Westbrook lead to 40-32 before Brackett's 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Brackett finished with 14 points, and Bonefant 11.
Brackett has scored eight points as Scarborough cut the Westbrook lead from 16 points to eight points.
Wescott scored seven points during the third period as Westbrook broke the game open. Scarboough did not make a field goal in the period, managing only a free throw by Brackett.

Bonenfant's two 3-pointers, 36 seconds apart, gave Scarborough a 14-13 lead with a minute left in the half. However, Ashlyn Bourgeois countered with Westbrook's only basket of the second period to regain the lead for the Blue Blazes.

South Portland scored the first six points of the fourth period and cruised into the regional semifinals. Leading by eight entering the final eight minutes, the Riots got a fastbreak layup from Danielle McCusker and two inside hoops by Brianna Hawkins to open a 44-30 lead that Biddeford could not overcome.
Hawkins, Kelsey Flaherty and Erin Stilphen combined to dominate the inside for the Riots, who will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday against Noble.
Hawkins led the Riots (16-3) with 12 points while Jessica Aceto had 11 and Stilphen 10.
Keila Grigware led Biddeford (13-7) with 10 points while Lauren Rousseau had nine.
Danielle McCusker's 15-footer at the thid-quarter buzzer allowed the Riots to hold a comfortable margin entering the final quarter.
Biddeford had twice cut the margin to six, but South Portland's defense never let the Tigers closer.
South Portland opened up a 15-point lead in the second quarter as Biddeford was held scoreless for the first 4:41 of the period.
But Biddeford's Lauren Rousseau scored nine of the Tigers' next 11 points to bring Biddeford back to within 26-18 with 1:28 remaining in the half.
After SP's Brianna Hawkins hit a foul shot with 54 seconds left, the Tigers slowed the pace down and got a huge basket as Aimee Mortenson hit a fade-away jumper from the foul line at the buzzer to bring Biddeford within 27-20 at the half.
Jessica Aceto had nine points for the Riots, while Hawkins had eight. Rousseau led Biddeford with nine.
South Portland used a superior height advantage to control the boards at both ends of the court and open a big lead over Biddeford.
The Riots got a big 3-pointer from Jessica Aceto midway through the quarter to open a 10-6 lead.
Biddeford was scoreless for a four-minute span, as the Riots opened a six-point lead. An offensive rebound by Kelsey Flaherty gave the Riots a 14-7 lead at the break.
Final: Noble 45, Marshwood 44
Final: Noble held off a late rally by Marshwood to hang on for a 45-44 win. The Knights got a game-high 17 points from center Sloane Sorrell.
3rd Q: Noble got nine points from center Sloane Sorrell in the third quarter to go ahead 40-36.
Halftime Report: After trailing 25-18 with three minutes to play in the half, Noble rallied to tie it 27-27 at the half.
Alyssa Stokes hit a layup, missed a free throw then sank a three-pointer to make it 27-25 Noble.
Marshwood's Sarah VanHorn scored on a layup to keep things tied going into half time.
1st Q: Marshwood got five points from Michelle Wiliams in the first quarter on its way to a 15-12 lead.
