Mike Harmon provided a spark of the bench with eight points, including five points in the fourth, to help Portland (14-5) defeat Deering (12-7).
The Bulldogs missed five straight free-throws at one point in the fourth, but a pair of made foul shots by Jake Longstaff after an intentional foul sealed the win.
Koang Thok led Portland with 12 points and Ed Bogdanovich and Walter Stover each scored eight.
Ronald Abwoch led the Rams with 15 points and Kyle Donovan added nine. Despite having several chances to tie the game or cut the lead to one late in the fourth quarter, Deering's offense could never get in-sync and was often out of control as the game wound down.
Portland will be play the winner of the next game, #1-Cheverus (15-3) vs. #9-Windham (10-9).

Despite a stilted pace of play due to turnovers and fouls by both sides, Portland has managed to stay within range due to contributions from a variety players. An offensive rebound followed by a lay-up from Dewayne Albertie and two points from six different players constituted Portland's offense.
Abwoch has cooled off a bit, but still leads all scorers with 13 points after a pretty runner.

Unable to get any looks against a tough Deering zone, Portland has called a timeout to regroup.

Ronald Abwoch scored six points in the second, including a show-stopping spin move that resulted in a lay-up and free-throw attempt, to boost Deering's lead further. Abwoch is the game's leading scorer with 11 points. Kyle Donovan finishes the first half with four points and two blocks.
Portland benefitted from a press at times but has had difficulty penetrating and getting inside. Koang Thok continues to play well and has eight points at halftime and a couple of key steals, including one at 2:54 in the second that resulted in a breakaway lay-us. Ed Bogdoanovich has four points for Portland.

Ronald Abwoch hit a 3-pointer with 1:10 remaining in the first to give the Rams their biggest lead. His five points are a game-high in a first quarter fraught with turnovers for both sides. Koang Thok leads Portland with four points.
