FINAL: Lee 59, Madison 47

Amanda Gifford scored 18 points and Karin Bird added 14 as the Lee Pandas won the Class C state title Wednesday in Augusta.
Margo Russell scored 24 points for Madison, which ends the year at 20-2.
Lee finishes 19-3.

FINAL: Madison 37, Monmouth 34

Madison wins the Western C title after surviving a late Monmouth run. The Bulldogs get 12 points from Danielle Hebert and 12 from Margo Russell. The Mustangs were down by 13 but pulled within three in the final two minutes. Katie Woodman and Jenn Lola each score 11 to lead Monmouth. Lola and Jill Armstrong both missed 3-point attempts in the final minute that would've tied the game.

Final: Madison 69, St. Dom's 24

FINAL: Madison outscored St. Dom's 36-7 over the final 16 minutes for the 69-24 win. Margo Russell led Madison with 17 points and six rebounds. Briann Emery added 14 points for the Bulldogs.

The Saints finished the game with 41 turnovers, 23 in the second half.

AT THE HALF:No. 1 Madison leads No. 12 St. Dom's 33-17 at the half. Lacey Ashbrook has 10 points for Madison, while Margo Russell has eight points for the Bulldogs.

The Saints haven't helped themselves with 19 turnovers.

FINAL: Madison 51, Georges Valley 36

Madison pulls away, and led by Margo Russell's 17 points, takes a 51-36 victory. Georges Valley had 30 turnovers compared to just 12 for Madison. Ashley Geel finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots for Georges Valley.

At the end of the third quarter, Madison has regained its lead and is on top, 40-32. Ashley Geel has four fouls for Georges Valley, but has stayed in since picking up foul No. 4 with four minutes left in the third quarter. Madison hit three 3-pointers in the third quarter, including back-to-back bombs by Lacey Ashbrook.


Madison scored the last four points of the half to knot the score at 26 as the teams head to the locker room. Six-foot-2 center Ashley Geel leads Georges Valley with 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Geel has scored almost all of her points on fadeaway mid-range jumpers. She also has two fouls.

Madison is led by Briann Emery with nine points, Lacey Ashbrook with seven and Margo Russell with six.

Georges Valley is 10 for 26 from the floor, 5 for 8 from the line and has committed 14 turnovers.

Madison is 9 for 30 from the floor, 4 for 8 from the line and has committed eight turnovers.


At the end of the first quarter, it's very entertaining so far as Nicole Poland's three in the final seconds has put Georges Valley on top, 19-17. Madison led 9-2, but Georges Valley is shooting very well from the field.

FINAL: Monmouth 49, Hall-Dale 33

Defense and Jenn Lola do the trick again for the Mustangs as they take a 49-33 decision and advance to play Waynflete in the semifinals.

Lola finished with 17 points and Monmouth held the Bulldogs to 11 field goals. Alyssa Morin added 10 points for the Mustangs, with Moe Beaulieu and Bethany Neal each scoring eight. Brittany Ladner topped Hall-Dale with eight points.

Monmouth made eight field goals in the third quarter, including three long jumpers by sub Bethany Neal, to take a 35-24 lead into the fourth quarter. Jenn Lola leads the Mustangs with 13 points and Brittany Ladner has six for Hall-Dale.

Hall-Dale's Ariel Howes just picked up her fourth foul with 7:13 left in the third quarter. The Bulldogs are also missing Erika Brann, who injured her ankle in the second quarter.


Neither team scored in the last 2:33, and Monmouth is on top 19-12 at halftime. For Monmouth, Jenn Lola has nine points and Moe Beaulieu has six. Hall-Dale is led by Brittany Ladner with four points. Monmouth is 5 of 7 from the foul line and Hall-Dale is 2 of 2.

FINAL: Waynflete 52, Mt. Abram 40

Waynflete holds off a great Mt. Abram comeback to take the 52-40 win. The Flyers scored the last eight points of the game, holding Mt. Abram scoreless over the last 2:30.

Margaret Veroneau led Waynflete with 29 points. Kenni Norton had 15 and Morgan Cummings added 12 for Mt. Abram, which trailed 34-20 in the third quarter before going on a 14-0 run to tie the score on Norton's steal and layup with 5:58 left in the game.
