FINAL: Morse 49, Skowhegan 46
Senior guard Jill Henrikson scored 32 points, including a three-point play with 3.3 seconds left, to lift No.2 Morse over Skowhegan.
With the game tied at 46, Morse called a timeout with 14.3 seconds left. The ball went into the right corner and Maggie Smith found Henrikson cutting to the basket. She hit the layup and was fouled, also hitting the free throw.
Skowhegan did not get off a final shot.
Henrikson had 11 points in the final period, inlcuding Morse's last nine.
Jill Henrikson was fouled while taking a half-court shot and hit all three foul shots with 4.8 seconds left in the third quarter to keep Morse ahead of upstart Skowhegan.
Morse trailed by four when sonya Dickinson put in an offensive rebound while falling down. Then Henrikson hit her shots.
Tenth-ranked Skowhegan kept close throughout the second quarter, and pulled within one at the half when Adrienne Davis' 3-point attempt rolled around, then in at the buzzer.
Jill Henrikson had 13 points for the Shipbuilders at the half, eight coming in the second quarter. She was helped by Tarra Burr, who had four points, including an offensive rebound basket with 1:03 left in the second quarter that provided Morse with a 25-21 lead.
Skowhegan hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter to stay close.
Morse scored the game's first five points, all by Jill Henrikson, then held off several Skowhegan challenges.
Sarah Fitzgerald gave the second-seed Shipbuilders a boost with four points off the bench.
Kaley Brown had Skowhegan's first seven points.
