Reddick goes on the DL
Josh Reddick, the Portland Sea Dogs lead-off batter and a top Red Sox outfield prospect, was put on the disabled list, the Sea Dogs announced this morning.
The move is retroactive to April 30, when Reddick strained an oblique muscle in his last at-bat.
Reddick, 22, is batting .288. His six home runs is tied for first among Eastern League batters.
Reddick was replaced by outfielder Matt Sheely from advanced Class A Salem.
Sheely, 22, was a 48th-round draft pick by Boston in 2005. He has played in 14 games for Salem (.310, six RBI).
Portland begins a seven-game road trip tonight, with 3 games in Connecticut, then 4 in Binghamton. The Dogs return to Hadlock Field on May 8.
