Sox get to Mo; KJ struggles; Doubront fine
The Red Sox get to the great one, Mariano Rivera, more than any other team. Jason Bay did the honors this time.
Mike Lupica of the New York Daily News goes over the moment. He also brings up the fun fact that New York was 77-0 last season when leading after 8 innings.
In the minors, lefty Kris Johnson's dominance in Triple-A ended Friday. After two shutout starts, Johnson lasted only 2 1/3 innings (9 H, 8 R, 2 BB, 2 K).
In that Pawtucket game, Julio Lugo went 0-for-3 on his rehab assignment, with a strikeout and a walk. Iggy Suarez replaced him and, in is Triple-A debut, grounded out to second in his one at-bat.
In Portland, lefty Felix Doubront lost his command briefly, but came back. See the Press Herald story.
In Greenville, Brock Huntzinger, 20, had a fine start (5 2/3, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K). He was followed by Armando Zerpa, 22, (3 1/3, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K).
Huntzinger was a third-round draft pick in 2007; Zerpa a free agent from Venezuela.
I'll check in later from Hadlock.
