"Josh was phenomenal," Boston manager Terry Francona said "He threw his fastball, throwing it front door and it would come back on lefties."
Rays manager Joe Maddon: "On an opening day, (Beckett) looked like his old self."
Beckett: "Tek (catcher Jason Varitek) and I did a good job mixing my pitches. I don't think we were ever in a situation where we were scared to throw anything."
