Masterson coming for dinner

With an attractive guest, the addition of an auction, and a good cause added in, the Portland Sea Dogs are upgrading their annual Hot Stove Dinner (now called the Hot Stove Dinner and Auction).

This season's event will be Friday, Jan. 9, at the Wyndham Hotel in South Portland. Former Sea Dogs starter Justin Masterson will be the featured guest. Masterson is now a Red Sox reliever (and future starter?).

As usual, the 2009 Sea Dogs manager (not yet announced, but expected to be Arnie Beyeler again) will be there. Red Sox prospects will also be in attendance. The Sea Dogs said they will announce other "personalities" later.

The event is more exclusive (i.e. more expensive at $50 per), with ticket sales limited to 300. Proceeds from the dinner and auction go to the Strike Out Cancer in Kids Program.

Tickets can be purchased at Hadlock Field, by phone (207-879-9500) or online at www.seadogs.com.
