Sox game not postponed (yet)
If this was not the last series of the regular season, tonight's Yankees-Red Sox game would probably have been called off hours ago.
But Major League Baseball, not the Red Sox, calls the shots for this one, and so we wait.
But, really, how can they possibly play?
The Red Sox put out a press release saying the forecast "calls for the possibility of a break in today's rain showers."
The break (or window as they like to call it), is not likely to last long. Red Sox manager Terry Francona said, "there actually seems to be a window up to game time."
Francona did say if tonight's game is rained out then Daisuke Matsuzaka would be pushed back a day and pitch Saturday.
But what of Josh Beckett, who was scheduled to pitch on Saturday?
"We will get to that," Francona said.
Assuming today's game is rained out, it will likely be made up as party of a doubleheader Sunday (that second game would have a Pawtucket Red Sox feel to it).
