Buchholz two-hitter through four
Clay Buchholz retired the first six batters before allowing a ground ball single into center field.
So far, through four innings, Buchholz has allowed two hits and no walks. He gave up a wall-ball double in the fourth to Eric Nielson.
He has thrown 45 pitches, 29 for strikes. He has struck out 5, using mostly fastballs and change-ups.
There was an apparent goof with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats lineup card. After the Fisher Cats used their DH in the first inning, Portland manager Arnie Beyeler came out to talk to the umpires. They then talked to Fisher Cats manager Gary Cathcart. New Hampshire is now batting its pitcher in the third spot.
