Ortiz homers and (flash) he's still coming to Portland
When David Ortiz announced that he would not take Sunday off but, rather, spend a fourth day in Pawtucket, the speculation was that he might cut his rehab short and skip Portland.
But both Ortiz and Boston manager Terry Francona said again Friday that Ortiz is going to do his full rehab schedule ... Ortiz, by the way, homered for a second straight game in Pawtucket.
Jeff Corsaletti had a two-run double for Pawtucket ... Devern Hansack (7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 8 K) got the win.
Unfortunately, Hansack's former PawSox teammate, Clay Buchholz (2-5, 4.88), did not have the same success in the majors. He gave up 8 runs (4 earned) in 4 2/3 innings and now has an ERA of 10.00 over his last three starts.
Back to the minors, Josh Reddick (.341) hit his 16th home run for Lancaster ... two recent promotions from Greenville are doing well in three games - first baseman Mike Jones (.400) went 2-4 Friday, and shortstop Yamaico Navarro (.583) was 2-for-3.
Ryne Lawson, 23, pitched well for Greenville (6 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) and has a 0.81 ERA over his last 10 games.
Reminder that today's Sea Dogs doubleheader starts at 5 p.m.
