Sox lineup, future rotation, Ortiz
Greetings from Fenway. The sun out in full force and the Sox are taking a rare batting practice before a Sunday afternoon game (Brandon Moss just put one off the Monster).
Manager Terry Francona announced his rotation for after the All-Star Break:
Friday (Anaheim) Clay Buchholz
Saturday (Anaheim) Josh Beckett
Sunday (Anaheim) Tim Wakefield
July 21 (Seattle) Jon Lester
July 22 (Seattle) Daisuke Matuszaka
July 23 (Seattle) Buchholz
That would mean the rotation for the Yankees series here July 25-27 should be Beckett, Wakefield and Lester.
Got a little clarity on the tentative David Ortiz plans for his rehab appearances:
July 17-19 in Pawtucket and July 21-23 in Portland.
One transaction to pass on from Saturday: Pawtucket outfielder Bobby Kielty asked for and received his release. That leaves an opening, either for Bryan Pritz to come of the DL, or someone from Portland coming up (Corsalettti?) ... For more on Corsaletti and Saturday's minor league results, see the prevous blog.
Here is today's lineup (note: Mike Lowell is getting a quasi day off as the DH)
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
Dustin Pedroia, 2B
J.D. Drew, RF
Manny Ramirez, LF
Mike Lowell, DH
Kevin Youkilis, 3B
Sean Casey, 1B
Jason Varitek, C
Alex Cora, SS
(Daisuke Matsuzaka, P)
