Dogs win 2-1
Mark Wagner's two-run homer in the second held up as the Sea Dogs beat Reading 2-1 Friday night.
Michael Bowden carried a perfect game into the fifth inning. He gave up a pair of two-out singles in the frame and was done after only 64 pitches. The Red Sox want to limit Bowden's workload.
Of the relievers, T.J. Large threw a 1-2-3 sixth ... Daniel Bard showed a wild side (3 walks in 1 1/3 innings, as well as a single and an unearned run) ... Beau Vaughan got his 11th save with five outs.
Check back Saturday morning for the usual update on the Sox and their farm system.
