Dogs lose; finally coming home
Portland Sea Dogs lefty Dustin Richardson left a few pitches up in the first inning, and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats did not miss them.
New Hampshire scored four runs in the first, on the way to a 7-3 win over the Sea Dogs Thursday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium..
The loss ended the Sea Dogs nine-game road trip with a 6-3 mark. They return to Hadlock Field for 14 home games over the next 18 days.
Richardson recovered from the first inning to throw one-hit ball over the next four innings (5 strikeouts). That was a positive, as Richardson continues to search for consistency.
Kyle Jackson gave up three hits in three innings of relief - but two of the hits were a pair of solo home runs by Travis Snider.
The Sea Dogs could only total four hits, although they also recorded nine walks. They left 10 on base.
Zach Daeges continues to get on base. He went 1-for-3 with a double and two walks on Thursday, extending his on-base streak to 22 games.
The Sea Dogs dropped to 27-18. New Hampshire is 15-29.
Hadlock ought to be hopping this weekend. Sunday's game is almost sold out, and tickets for the others games are moving along. About 800 tickets remain for Friday's game, 300 for Saturday and 1,000 for Monday.
