Bell's injury an ankle sprain
It looked worse, and Bubba Bell thought it sounded worse. But, to Bell's relief, the diagnosis of his injury Friday night is a high ankle sprain.
Bell, the Portland Sea Dogs center fielder, crashed into the left-center field wall in the third inning. He landed on his right ankle and appeared in obvious pain as he lay on the warning track.
Bell was carted off where he learned he did not break his ankle.
"It's a lot better than I thought it was," Bell said. "I thought I heard something pop and that scared me."
Bell could be out a week.
The Sea Dogs lost 7-3 to Bowie Friday. Bowie starter Chris Tillman, who turned 20 last month, held Portland to one hit and no runs over six innings. Tillman was one of five players the Orioles got in the Erik Bedard trade with Seattle.
