Moss making in majors
In case you didn't stay up, Brandon Moss played a major role in Boston's 7-3 win over the Devil Rays.
Moss went 2-for-4 with two runs, including his second major league homer. He also threw out a runner, trying to score from second on a single.
For more on Moss, see Friday's story.
Another former Sea Dog, Clay Buchholz, got the win (5 1/3, 1 R, 5 H, 4 BB, 6 K).
In the minors, the Portland Sea Dogs have lost outfielder Sean Danielson for now. He has been promoted to Pawtucket (no word on who he replaced) and outfielder Zach Daeges re-joins Portland from the disabled list (sprained wrist).
In Pawtucket, Kyle Snyder pitched well (6 IP, 1 unearned run) but got the loss ... Lincoln Holdzkom (6.35 ERA) was hit again (1 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 R) ... Craig Hansen threw a scoreless inning (1 H).
In Lancaster, the Jethawks won in a rout. Josh Reddick (.389), Jorge Jimenez (.358) and Jason Place (.179) all had three hits ... Place, the first-round pick in 2006, out of high school, has struggled as a pro.
In Greenville, the almost-regular mention of first baseman Mike Jones continues. He went 2-for-4 and is batting .412 ... Reliever Bryce Cox (1.86 ERA) allowed two hits in 1 2/3 innings.
