Third inning: one hit
Masterson is pounding the strike zone, as they say (15 pitches in the third inning, 11 for strikes). He yielded his first hit, a two-out single by Gary Matthews
Erick Aybar started the inning by flying out to shallow right.
Chad Figgins tried to bunt. Masterson raced in, on the third-base side, picked it up and threw him out.
Matthews fell behind 0-2, took two balls, and grounded a single to center.
Vlad Guerrero flied out to right with Jacoby Ellsbury charging in and making a sliding catch.
Red Sox lead 1-0 after they loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the second. Manny Ramirez scored on Coco Crisp's ground out.
