You won't believe it
Introducing the new relief pitching prospect for the Boston Red Sox:
Jay Johnson.
Johnson, who is actually an outfielder for the Portland Sea Dogs, threw two innings of scoreless relief to get the win Wednesday night, in the Sea Dogs' 8-7 win over Connecticut - a game that lasted 17 innings.
To top it off, Johnson also had the game-winning hit, doubling in a run in the bottom of the 17th.
Connecticut also had to resort to using an everyday player on the mound in the 17th, so third baseman Simon Klink was the losing pitcher.
The game featured 29 walks (17 by Connecticut pitchers) and 36 runners left on base (22 by Portland)
Johnson actually struck out three batters, using a "fastball," and knuckleball.
I'll be blogging later, and the game story will be on the website soon.
