Moves, News & Lineups

The Boston Red Sox placed Alex Cora on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain. The move is retroactive to April 10.

The move had a Domino affect in Pawtucket and Portland.

The Red Sox called up infielder Joe Thurston from Pawtucket. So Pawtucket plucked infielder Jeff Natale from Portland. In turn, the Sea Dogs activated outfielder Jeff Corsaletti from extended spring training.

Thurston, 28, is batting .255 with 2 RBI in 12 games at Pawtucket . He has played briefly in the majors, with a .259 career average in 55 games with the Dodgers (2002-04) and Phillies (2006).

Kevin covers baseball for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. He first reported on spring training games for the St. Petersburg Times in 1978. He wisely moved to Maine in 1994 and now writes about the Portland Sea Dogs and Boston Red Sox—when he's not coaching Little League baseball.

He is married to Nancy, and the couple recently completed their lineup card with the birth of their ninth child.
