Tonight's lineup
From crowded Fenway park on Tuesday to Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT tonight, where the Sea Dogs will be playing the Connecticut Defenders ...
I'll be blogging soon on Bob Stanley's reaction to the Bill Buckner appearance at Fenway. Stanley, the Portland native who also played on that '86 Red sox team, is the Defenders' pitching coach.
In Sea Dogs news, Portland added pitcher Miguel Asencio to the roster, replacing the void left by Chris Smith's promotion.
Asencio, 27, is a minor league free agentg with major league experience (Royals, 02-03; Rockies, '06). he should be here by gametime.
Another pitcher has joined the Sea Dogs. Starter Matt Goodson arrived from Fort Myers. He is still on the disabled list, but is expected to be activated soon. He'll pitch a simulated game Friday and could start for the Sea Dogs next week.
Goodson began last season in Portland and then moved down to Lancaster. He was shut down last July with a problem with his ulnar nerve.
He had surgery and is on the comeback trail.
And now for tonight's Sea Dogs lineup:
Bubba Bell, cf
Ryan Khoury, ss
Tony Granadillo, dh
Zach Daeges, rf
Aaron Bates, 1b
Jeff Natale, 2b
Andrew Pinckney, 3b
Jay Johnson, lf
John Otness, c
(Daniel Haigwood, p)
Haigwood was moved to the bullpen this year, but is filling Smith's spot in the rotation for tonight.
