Buckner to throw first pitch

Bill Buckner is going to throw out the first pitch in today's game.

Buckner, who unfortunately is remembered for allowing a ground ball go through his legs in extra innings of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, has kept his distance from Boston.

This is Buckner's first visit to Fenway since 1997, when he was a hitting coach for the Chicago White Sox.

Pregame ceremonies are set to begin in 15 minutes. Enjoy.

Kevin covers baseball for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. He first reported on spring training games for the St. Petersburg Times in 1978. He wisely moved to Maine in 1994 and now writes about the Portland Sea Dogs and Boston Red Sox—when he's not coaching Little League baseball.

He is married to Nancy, and the couple recently completed their lineup card with the birth of their ninth child.
