Red Sox trade
BOSTON - Shortstop Christian Lara used to be considered a hot prospect. As a 19-year-old, Lara batted .433 in the Gulf Coast League. He did little after that, including a .238 average last year in hitter-friendly Lancaster.
On Tuesday morning, the Red Sox finally gave up on Lara, trading him to the LA Dodgers for right-handed reliever Eric Hull
Hull, 28, was designated for assignment last week. He was 4-3 (2.74) in Triple-A last year. In 5 ML games, he had a 4.05 ERA.
Hull is on the Pawtucket roster as an inactive player. He'll be in extended spring training in Fort Myers for now.
Back soon.
