Tired? Not these guys
So much has been said about the Red Sox 3-country road trip. Everyone, including the Red Sox, are tired of all the "tired talk."
At least it's over.
As for the Portland Sea Dogs, their 3-state trip is going nicely. No signs of fatigue.
The Sea Dogs left Florida last week for Maine. They settled in and then got on the bus to Connecticut.
They're still there. After sweeping New Britain in three games, they took the easy journey to Norwich, CT, where they face the Defenders for three games.
Then after a day off, the Dogs play their home opener Friday,
In Sunday's game, relievers Jose Vaquedano (2-0) and Hunter Jones (1 save) kept their ERA's at 0.00.
In Pawtucket, former Sea Dogs ace Devern Hansack was ineffective in his first start (4 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 2 K).
But Craig Hansen is showing positive signs (maybe). He pitched two more scoreless innings (1 H, 1 BB, 3 K)
In advanced Class A Lancaster, catching prospect Jon Still continues to demonstrate power. Still hit 25 homers last year (21 in Greenville, 4 in Lancaster) and already has 4 this year, including 2 Sunday.
Lancaster closer Josh Papelbon got back on track with 2 scoreless innings.
In lower Class A Greenville, 20-year-old starter Felix Doubrant pitched 5 shutout innings (5 H, 1 BB, 2 K).
Daniel Bard seems to like the bullpen. He relieved for Greenville for two more shutout innings (0 H, 0 BB, 3 K). If Bard keeps that up, he'll have to take on the winds in Lancaster soon.
