The Red Sox have 39 players still in big league camp (more cuts could come as early as Sunday).

Boston will bring 30 players to Japan and, eventually, will have to get down to 25 players.

Minor league infielders like Ginter and Thurston are likely not going, as well as the injured Crisp. Kielty is also hurt, although he could play today.

Boston will probably only send three catchers to the Far East (Brown or Kottaras will join Varitek and Cash; my guess is Brown, although he will then go back to Pawtucket).

Of the pitchers, Beckett (hurt) and Colon (not ready) are obviously off the list. And a couple of relievers won't make it (Aardsma, Breslow, Hansen and Holdzkom figure to be on the bubble).
