Report: Mets land Santana
According to a the USA Today, the Minnesota Twins have agreed to trade Johan Santana to the New York Mets in exchange for four prospects.
The Mets still have to reach a contract extension with Santana.
See the story on the USA Today site.
The Mets emerged as a frontrunner for Santana recently, which made sense. Both the Yankees and Red Sox were reluctant to give up so many prospects for Santana (as well as pay for a large extended contract).
The Mets were the more desperate team, and the Twins don't have to worry about facing him in the AL.

My Met fan friends are very excited down here about this trade. I too look forward to seeing Santana pitch in 2008, the last season of Shea Stadium. Now they just need to sign him to the biggest contract ever for a pitcher. Twins fans should be very upset. Minnesota didn't get as much as they would have if they had taken Lester, Crisp etc... Gomez looked like he could be a pretty good CF and is fast but Humber didn't do much and he's older than Lester. The Twins have a history of developing good talent so maybe these two and the minor league guys will turn out to be very good. At least a couple of them better be long term contributors or this could go done as one of the worst trades ever. They could have just kept him for next year, offered arbitration and gotten a couple of 1st round picks if they didn't sign him long term.
