Red Sox tickets on sale Saturday

Tickets to most of the Boston Red Sox home games in 2008 will go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m., by both phone and internet (no box office sales until February).

Last December, tickets to selected games in April and May, plus combination packages, went on sale. This Saturday, most of the remaining tickets go on sale (except the home opener, Yankees games, Monster seat and Right Field rooftop seats).

A maximum of 8 tickets per person can be purchased Saturday.

According to the Red Sox press release, fans can purchase tickets by touchtone phone at (617) 482-4SOX or online at redsox.com. Fans with disabilities may call (877) REDSOX-9 to purchase accessible seating (while supplies last). The Red Sox’ TTY number for hearing-impaired fans is (617) 226-6644.

The press release also includes this quote from Red Sox prez Larry Lucchino:

“We ask that everyone be patient through the initial sale and please understand that sometimes the ticket limits and methods we employ to make the ticket purchasing process fair may generate some delays ..."

In other words, you will be waiting a while for the phone line or computer screen to open up to you.

The Red Sox also will be holding random drawings for tickets to the home opener (April 8), all Yankees games, and all Green Monster and Right Field Roof Deck areas. Details for the random drawings will be announced next week.

If you find this all intimidating and expensive, check out the Portland Sea Dogs schedule. And, until Feb. 1, the Sea Dogs are holding a 2-for-1 ticket offer when you bring in a canned food item for charity.
