Is Hansen going to be ready?
One item I did not get into my Sunday column was a note on Craig Hansen, the once-touted relief pitcher who is still a question mark.
Hansen underwent nasal surgery to help him sleep better. Farm director Mike Hazen said the surgery required a lot of time for recuperation, but that Hansen is now throwing and getting ready for spring training.
But will Hansen REALLY be ready.
The Red Sox still think Hansen shows a lot of potential. The question continually is if he is going to realize it. A hard-throwing reliever with a killer slider would certainly be a nice set-up for Papelbon.
Speaking of the column, just wanted to point out one note about the annual Futures At Fenway doubleheader. The Sea Dogs will not be participating in 2008. Hazen said a date could not be found. Instead, Pawtucket will join Lowell as the two Boston minor league teams involved.
The more I talk to people about lefty Dustin Richardson, the more I look forward to seeing him on the Hadlock mound.
