What do Red Sox, Yankees need?
Talked to an insightful Yankees fan the other day and posed the question:
What worries you about the Yankees?
In other words, do the Yankees have any obvious weaknesses that are a concern? I could ask the same of Red Sox fans ... so I will.
As spring training looms, what are the concerns of the Yankees and Red Sox?
My intentions for the question are purely selfish (got a baseball column to write for Sunday and I could use some input)
My Yankees friend surprised me and said he hopes the Yankees do not get Johan Santana, but, he added, "I don't want the Red Sox to get him either."
That seems to be a sentiment from some of both sides of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. Yankees and Red Sox fans may not want to give up so much for Santana - but they don't want him going to the enemy, either. Both sides are likely rooting for the Mets to blow the Twins away with an offer.

While I wouldn't MIND having Santana, I have to agree with the mentioned philosophy about not wanting to give up too much... oh, and I am a Yankee fan... the biggest concern that I have is first base/ outfield rotation. While I'm not overly enthusiastic about the rotation, I'm not overly worried, either. And the road to Mo always seems to take care of itself... and I'd personally like to see Joba left in the 'pen.... taking a page from the Sox playbook with Papelbon.
