Colorado headlines
Good morning from Denver (actually, I'm in Glendale - more on that later).
During the workout yesterday, you get the sense that this Series is not going back to Boston. The Rockies don't seem to have the pitching to hold off the Red Sox.
But there is confidence among the Rockies and their media.
Here are some of the headlines from today's Rocky Mountain News"
"Team is Dangerous When Cornered"
"Still Confidence Rockies are Used to Uphill Climbs"
"If Gyroball Exists, it is No Match against Coors Field"
The last headline concerned Daisuke Matsuzaka and his array of breaking balls that supposedly will not work at Coors.
It is possible that Matsuzaka will not be very effective. The key for Boston is that he stops the big inning. The guess here is that Dice-K may not make it out of the fifth. It will be up to the bullpen from there.
Now, back to Glendale. Staying at a Hampton Inn. Lobby full of bleary-eyed parents and 12-year-old boys. I know that look - a travel hockey team. The team had a 6 a.m. game today, but got a thrill. They played a team that had the son of Joe Sakic on it.
Even though Sakic and the Avs had a game in Cakgary last night, he was there to watch his son's game (and sign autographs).
I'll be blogging later from the ballpark.
