Yankees lose

AJ Burnett was a late scratch for the Toronto Blue Jays because of personal reasons, but Jesse Litch filled in nicely, in Toronto's 4-1 win over the Yankees Monday afternoon in the Bronx.

The loss drops New York two games behind Boston. Both teams have six games remaining. The Red Sox magic number is FIVE.

Litch threw 7 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and one run. Andy Pettitte gave up four runs (three earned) in 6 innings. A 3-run second inning did him in.

Here are the standings and remaining games:

Cleveland 92-63
Boston 92-64
Angels 92-64
Yankees 90-66

Boston, New York and the Angels have 6 games to go; Cleveland has 7 left.
