Aces
There is outrage over J.D. Drew, and worry over Julio Lugo. And yes, we want them to be more consistent. But we are also constantly reminded, it's the PITCHING.
Boston's offense could not do much last night. But Dice-K and the bullpen were enough.
Beckett goes today.
Clay Buchholz is being groomed in Pawtucket.
Another gem, 22-year-old Justin Masterson, makes another start today at Hadlock Field.
We can debate the signings of Drew and Lugo. But at least the Red Sox get it in terms of the most important position.
This will be a quick blog (got a noon game at Hadlock today). But two minor league items from last night are worth noting.
Brandon Moss continues a consistently hot bat in Pawtucket. And he is also clutch. Moss went 3-for-4 in Pawtucket's 3-2 win over Toleda. Among his two RBI was the game-winner, a RBI triple in the ninth.
First-baseman Aaron Bates made his first appearance in Class A Lancaster in almost three weeks, recovering from a sprained ankle. He was the DH and went 3-for-5. There was speculation that Bates may get a promotion to Portland. Don't know if that will still play out after the injury.
