Brandon, Bubba, Big Guy
Congratulations to former Sea Dogs outfielder Brandon Moss for making the Triple-A All Star Game. Moss is batting .294 with 13 home runs and 54 RBI for Pawtucket.
He can be streaky, but if Moss keeps this up, he is certain to at least get a September call-up, which will be his first time in the majors.
Speaking of Pawtucket, the Pawsox are on NESN tonight at 7 p.m. Devern Hansack gets the start for Pawtucket against the a familiar friend. Tim Kester was considered an old man (for minor league ball) when he was with the Sea Dogs in 2003. Now he is 35 and pitching for Norfolk. While his chances for ever reaching the majors grow slim, Kester has always said he is having too much fun to quit. Who can blame him?
If you're going to the Sea Dogs game tonight, and you want a Jacoby Ellsbury bobblehead, get there early. Only the first 1,000 fans through the gate get a doll, and the Ellsbury edition is sure to be a favorite.
So, when is Bubba going to get to Portland, or do the Red Sox want outfielder Bubba Bell to win the Triple Corwn at Class A California? Brown went 4-for-4 last night with a homer and five RBI. He leads the league with a .366 average, 21 homers and 77 RBI. The wind out there can't be doig it all.
Saw bits of the Red Sox game yesterday. Doesn't Alex Cora pinch-hitting for Julio Lugo say it all?
Mariners sweep Red Sox, and Boston still has a nine game lead in the East - over Toronto. Has Boston had it so easy this far into a season?
As for the Big Guy, Curt Schilling, never mind the tough-guy interviews about him wanting to pitch now. He will never admit he is getting older. But the Red Sox know better. Take a rest Curt and we'll see you after the All Star break.
