Who would you trade?
In today's Sunday Telegram, we look at who could be trade bait for the Red Sox.
Should the Red Sox want to improve their club before the July 31 deadline, they have quality players to trade (unless of course they deem those quality players better than what's on the trade market).
The story is not pushing for a trade (I'm hoping pitchers like Kason Gabbard and Devern Hansack, and a prospect, such as infielder Jed Lowrie, are able to stick with Boston some day). The story is simply a look at who might surface in a deal.
Two players who should be considered for a trade (either mid-season or after this year) are outfielders David Murphy and Wily Mo Pena. Murphy, 25, deserves a shot with someone, before he becomes a "minor league veteran" and Pena is not developing on the bench.
Who would you trade (and, please, no one is going to want Lugo with his average and salary)? And who do you want to trade for?
One more note. Speaking of outfielders, the Red Sox signed a minor league veteran, Brad Correll, 26, out of the independent leagues. Correll is enjoying the jet stream at advanced Class A Lancaster. He hit four home runs on Saturday. Through five games, he has six home runs and a .368 average.

I think, with the amount of talent in the minors, Wakefield and Schilling expendable. However, I wouldn't mess with anyone on the pitching staff right now because of the success they're having as a whole.I think Wily Mo could really turn into a 30-40 homerun hitter if he was given an everyday job, and all he needs is for a spot to open (maybe get rid of J.D. or Coco). IMO, we should get rid of Lowell (doing fine this year but doesn't have many years left) in the offseason, put Youk back at third and either train Mo to play first (I wouldn't put Ortiz there) or get a first baseman (Texiera?). Jacobs Ellersby should be the everyday centerfielder in two years, on his left should remain Manny, and on his right should either be Wily Mo or Coco (depending on how the situation I just described in the alst sentance turns out.
