Tavarez vs. Mussina
Julian Tavarez and his 5.59 ERA goes against Mike Mussina (5.64) tonight in Yankee Stadium. Although that Yankees lineup is heating up, the Red Sox may have the advantage tonight, based on the bullpen. Neither starter has been consistent and neither is likely to last past six innings.
Tavarez looked fine in his Tigers start on May 17 (7 innings, 4 hits, 1 run), but in his start before, he lasted 5 innings (10 hits, 4 earned runs).
Mussina, who came off the disabled list earlier this month after a strained hamstring, went 6 innings on May 9, vs. Texas (3 hits, 2 runs) but went 5 1/3 innings in his last start at CHicago (8 hits).
One note from Pawtucket: The outfielders seem to take turns getting hot. Brandon Moss went 3-for-4 last night with 2 doubles. He's batting .282. Jacoby Ellsbury went 0-for-5 (now at .239) and David Murphy was 1-for-4 (.301).
