Gabbard down, Delcarmen up
It is the life of a pitcher needing to keep proving himself. Kason Gabbard pitched a fine game Sunday for the Red Sox, beating the Atlanta Braves. He got a pat on the back and a bus ticket back to the minor leaugue.
We don't know how Kason feels about his return to Pawtucket because he refused to speak to the media.
With a day off Thursday and Josh Beckett due back next week, Boston did not need another starter. Instead, another former Sea Dogs pitcher, Manny Delcarmen, gets a promotion to the majors as Boston stocks its bullpen for the Yankees series.
