Unlikely ending
Of all the scenarios for a Red Sox-Yankees game, I don't know who figured out that Kyle Snyder would be the winning pitcher, Hideki Okajima would get the save, and Coco Crisp would tie the game on a triple off Mariano Rivera. But that was not the only baseball being played.
In the Red Sox minor league games, Jon Lester finished his rehab stint with Greenville with a fair outing (5 innings, 6 hits, including 2 homers, and 3 earned runs). He struck out 5, walked none.
Jacoby Ellsbury continues to show he is beyond Double-A ball. In the Sea Dogs' 5-2 win, Ellsbury went 4-for-5, with two triples, a double and 3 RBI. He is batting .500.
In Triple-A Pawtucket, right-hander David Pauley pitched 6 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, striking out 9. His ERA is 1.00 Pawtcuket lost 6-2 to Rochester, as Manny Delcarmen gave up four earned runs in 2/3 of an inning. Brandon Moss (3-for-4) is batting .308.
