If you thought that was fun ...
While Tuesday's 14-3 rout made for an enjoyable Tuesday for Boston fans, Red Sox Nation - both in New England and in Japan - will be tuned in Wednesday night for the Fenway Park debut of Daisuke Matsuzaka. The first batter he will face will be Ichiro Suzuki.
"I'm sure there will be some flashbulbs going off," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said.
Francona, while concerned with Ichiro, was more focused on Seattle pitcher Felix Hernandez. "They got a pretty good guy throwing tomorrow," he said.
Hernandez was the opening day pitcher for Seattle on April 2. He threw eight innings of shutout ball for a 4-0 win over Oakland.
Wednesday night will be billed as Dice-K vs. Ichiro, but the battle between Hernandez and Boston's dangerous lineup is a nice subplot.
One last note from today: Coco Crisp hit a big double in the first inning, but finished 1-for-5. He is batting .160. Crisp will likely start Wednesday, but look for him to get a breather on Thursday, with Wily Mo Pena coming in to face left-hander Jarrod Washburn.
