Cold Red Sox
It was not only a loss, but a stinker. Boston certainly did not shine on Monday, in a 7-1 loss to Kansas City. Then again, don't the Red Sox normally lose on opening day? They lost 7-2 at Baltimore in 2004, and that season turned out okay. After checking stories from writers in Kansas City, I decided to offer
this link from the Boston Herald: Tony Massarotti questions how effective Schilling will be.
I know it's one game and I believe Schilling will do better. But never did I consider him the ace of this staff, this season. I think the next two games will feature Boston's best pitchers, in Beckett and Matsuzaka.
One note worth mentioning was how good Dustin Pedroia looked. He just needs a reminder - as does Kevin Youkilis - that they are good baserunners, not fast baserunners.
